I usually take the preventative measure approach and with the Previa, the previous owner did a GREAT JOB of keeping track of everything he did. Also the owner before him had a typed list of what was done while he had it for a few years.
Going down the list, there were a few things that have never been touched!!!
Alternator - DONE
Fuel pump and filter
Starter - DONE
Fan Clutch
Brake master cylinder and stainless steel brake lines.
Wheel bearings - DONE
Fumoto Valve - Decided not to do.
Grounding kit
These ARE important parts that keep the van going. So with that said, I had to do a quick look and figure out what these things cost and how to do them.
Alternator - It appears the alternator has never been replaced. I am actively looking for a rebuild kit as Tim on TVT has demonstrated that the contacts are the worn parts and that the OEM ones were built very well, while re-manufactured ones used weaker components (I think the soldering goes bad?).
Denso Alternators were OEM (original) and often times, when being bought at a store, they are sold as "rebuilt"... the question is.. who rebuilt it. I remember Tim saying that if Denso rebuilt their units, they are good quality. If it is not rebuilt by Denso, they would use cheap soldering.

$166 + free shipping. A Denso alternator rebuilt by Denso.
Fuel pump - seems to be in tank. I am going through the whole fueling system, so I will be changing the fuel filter and fuel pump just to keep it up to date with everything else. Somewhere down the line, I will have to get the injectors tested, but I have not had any fuel issues.
Fuel filter - BOSCH Part #
SPECTRA PREMIUM / COOLING DEPOT SP112 - $60) because I like Spectra Premium products.
Fan clutch - I never new how important these are and once in a while, I hear about them failing. With the Previa having may of the cooling system components changed to new (hoses, radiator water pump, thermostat...), I totally forgot about the fan clutch.
After reading on TVT about a few different models, I decided that I will purchase an Aisin fan clutch (AISIN Part #
SPECTRA PREMIUM / COOLING DEPOT Part #
single bolt on the plate starter
(1.6 kw Toyota Cold Spec Starter)
I am a sucker for cool knick knacks.... Grounding kit would be nice and I want to see if there actually work and are helpful!

Brake master cylinder - The idea of changing out the Brake master cylinder was due to the fact that I want to have a good braking system. I will have to do some research on prices for the brake master cylinder, but some of the companies that I like such as Bosch, prices are about $60 for an unit with 4 wheel ABS.
To improve braking, I wanted to do stainless steel brake lines. I will also have to research price, but I will most likely go to the junkyard and pull of the brake lines just for measurements.

Wheel bearings. The bearings are sealed, so this process is very difficult from what I understand. These are very pricey, but I have seen 2 incidences with Previas that made me want to do this.

Fumoto Valve -
F103N - I just think this is easier than anything.
