Door striker replacements

TheMan on Toyota Van tech did this awhile back. I thought it was cool, but it wasn't until I got to the junkyard and found a few LS400s that I decided to do this. The previa door strikers are black and have a philips/JIS type pattern on the bolt. The LS400 door strikers are chrome, but have a plastic cover over it. The bolt also had a Torx pattern. After the side by side comparison, they are basically the same except for the chrome finish and bolt.   This is more about looks than anything and I dont know if anyone would actually notice it if it is not pointed out. Nonetheless, it seems like an upgrade!

Sunroof lever replacement

I noticed my sunroof lever had a bit too much play, but since I was not able to find a previa with dual sunroofs, I just ignored it. When I did find one at the PnP, I jumped on it. I did not have a cover, but the junkyard find did. The cover is held by a small philips head screw. The lever is head by 2 10 mm nuts. -------------------------------------------- Very basic and here is the video! Not to long, did this within 5 minutes.

EGR system clean and Code P0401

This is another MUST DO on the previas, especially if you are having issues and code P0401 being thrown. P0401 is "Exhaust Gas Recirculation flow insufficient detected".  Parts: - EGR intake gasket - 25628-76010 - this is on the far right side next to the exhaust. - EGR valve gasket - 25627-76010 - used for the EGR valve to the intake manifold.  -Air inlet duct gasket - 22273-76010 - this is where the air goes into the intake manifold and where   the EGR port gets plugged. 1 container of coolant I followed Zenseeker's photo's on every single detail. If you haven't visit his website (http://zenseeker.net/Previa/PreviaMaintenance.htm) Zenseeker get's the credit and this would have been impossible for me to do without those pictures! **The pictures are located at the bottom of this post. --------------------------------- This part is going to be under the driver's seat if you didnt know. I started by taking off the hose clamps and ta...

Bumper repair part 1

So my bumper has the factor chin spoiler all crumpled and there is a crack on one side. I picked up a spare bumper and decided to use this to replace. I saw that one side where it would use the bolt to mount was ripped, so I did some plastic welding to fix it. I was going to mount this last night in class, but got caught up dealing with the roof garnish, which needed repair and work. The idea is that now I am going to cut the bottom part of the messed up bumper and bolt it on the new bumper to make it look like a better chin spoiler... hopefully it will look good!

All codes have been solved!!!!!!!!!!

Yes!!!!! P0171, P0130, P0133 kept popping up on me.  Initially, I thought it was my front heated 02 sensor, but after looking at the sensor, I realize it was the one that was replaced. So, I looked at the intake are really quick to see if there was anything I might have forgotten. BOOM. Looking under the driver's side and I find one of those tiny hoses had come off the fitting and it was part of the intake. It was easy to miss as it is all part of those tiny hoses all jumbled in there. It has been a few days and no code reappearing!!! ------------------------------------------------------------- I had the infamous P0401 - EGR circulation. So when I did the EGR clean out, I did not erase the code and was gonna have the shop see if they would find the issue, but never brought it back to them for that issue.  But I cleared it and ever since then, it has not popped up!!!

Transmission Failure and Rebuild 3/18-26/2015

Well... it came back and bit me. When the motor was being rebuilt, the transmission was out and I was going to take it to the transmission shop to have it inspected. Since I could not get to the shop in time (work and school), I just had the shop change out seals and gaskets. I was also told tranny was good. Well, after some basic research, I found out the S/C previas had the same transmission as the supras, which means they were beefier transmissions. So I had a false sense of "it should be okay". WRONG. A weeks ago, there was a noticeable long delay going into the lower gears. Then it got progressively worst with a sudden hard shift in to 2 and 3 gear. I had about enough of it. I took it to the shop that did my motor (and it has been a few months) and they said it feels like the clutch packs in the first couple gears is going out and that maybe the internals are damaged. I thought about it and took it to a transmission shop (the one I originally ...
